press release LJE @ Summer Fair 2007 (Release Date: 22nd May, 2007) London Jewellers shape up for a summer of exports Summer Fair London (17-20 June, 2007 at Excel) will provide a launch pad for a group of the capital’s hottest designer jewellers who will be looking to sell their designs not simply to British retailers but also to the many overseas buyers who are expected to visit the show. The eight-strong group will be exhibiting together on Stand E101 as part of the British Jewellers’ Association’s ‘London Jewellery Exports’ project, which is funded by the City Fringe Partnership with investment from the London Development Agency under the Jewellery Sector Investment Plan. All those taking part are members of the Clerkenwell Green Association and between them they offer an extremely diverse and interesting selection of jewellery products. “These designers offer a strong level of creativity and individuality which should have real appeal to the cosmopolitan audience that is being targeted by Summer Fair,” says the BJA’s Lindsey Straughton. “Many of them are exhibiting for the first time to a truly international audience and we anticipate a real buzz around the stand from anyone who is seeking the unusual.” Those participating are: Ana Verdun’s jewellery invites you on a spontaneous journey through the ages of decorative arts, paying homage to Egyptian and Moorish design and modernist simplicity while also introducing New World freshness. Her gorgeous, expressive pieces in precious metals, gemstones and pearls are bursting with South American passion.
CJ Poupazis is a joint venture between Chris and Joy Poupazis. The range includes everything from delicate earrings to solid silver belts with plenty of flamboyant designs made from silver, gold and platinum made using both new and traditional skills. Collections on show will include pearls, aquamarines, diamonds, peridots, and cornelians.
Emily Bedford specializes in the design and manufacture of contemporary, hand-made jewellery with great attention being paid to detailing through the use of colour and a sense of artistry which she uses to capture the imagination. Collections incorporate a variety of materials including metallic thread, miniature paintings, resin, gold leaf, fine silver and 18 ct gold.
Stephanie Ray takes her inspiration from Japanese art, architecture and style. Her latest collection uses the natural patterns of Bamboo – an ecologically sustainable material widely used in Asia – and mixes cross sections of the plant with contrasting silver frames. Other motifs employed are Japanese fir and cherry blossom.

Nafisa Designs has a fascination with retro fashion and a predilection for the styles of the Victorian and 1920's eras. These are reflected in its feminine, light-hearted yet elegant jewellery where sophistication meets contemporary to create a look that chic and sassy but not sugar sweet. This jewellery incorporates bold colours, elegant fabrics and luxurious semi precious stones.
Peruvian jewellery designer Maria Helena Spector makes original, hand-crafted jewellery that is bold and dramatic. The "lava" collection, which she will feature at Summer Fair, includes volcanic rocks and silver that she melts and mixes with the stones. All designs are one-of-a-kind made predominantly with semi-precious stones mixed with vintage beads and pieces of silver or gold leaf.
