MAYA Studio 201 Mayas' experiences as a theatrical prop/set maker inform the focus of her work, she is inspired by the idea that her objects become props in a domestic or gallery setting. She is particularly influenced by the ways in which three dimensional objects are used to further express emotional content and narrative and the use of illusions and optical effects to transform the stage environment. Maya gained a degree in silversmithing and Metalwork at Camberwell College of Arts and since then has participated in residencies at both Bishopsland and Yorkshire ArtSpace which culminated in producing a large commission for the Sheffield Assay Office.
