Mary Ann Simmons Branchworks T: +44 (0)20 7275 8808 Mary Ann Simmons MA RCA designs objects that explore the link between silver as a decorative material and the personal, commemorative, and ornamental object. She specialises in commissions which feature images of personal significance. In creating work she explores the framing of enclosed space. The volume dictated by the exterior walls becomes as important as the tangible object. At times the inside holds a personal reference such as a client’s handwriting; at others it will hold something that changes the perception of the interior space. Whilst boxes are Mary Ann’s specialty she designs and makes a full range of silverware and has developed work based on drawing in perspective creating pieces that are technically and visually challenging.
