Lilly Hastedt Chambers 33 – 35 M: +44 (0)7961 404 186 Lilly Hastedt is a highly trained jewellery designer and maker. Using only the finest materials, simple shapes and clever detailing, her jewellery offers versatility in the workplace, home and travelling abroad. For women who want to add style to denim as well as accentuate haute couture, Lilly’s designs are the classicist’s ideal. Lilly’s passion for colour and texture comes from her upbringing in Guatemala, a land with vibrant colours and landscapes. With an eye for detail and a passion for these colours, Lilly pursued a career in design. While many contemporary designers cater to what’s en vogue, Lilly’s inspiration comes from her life experiences. She has particular affinity for and expertise in pearls, coral, diamonds, jade and coloured gemstones. Lilly’s training began at the Gemmological Institute of America where she completed the Graduate Gemmologist course in California in 1990. ‘Here she learned the science and technical knowledge of diamonds and coloured stones, a distinguished diploma which is instantly recognized around the world as the mark of a senior professional in the jewellery industry.’ After finishing gemmology, a manufacturing course and a course in jewellery design, she moved to Germany and undertook a three-year apprenticeship at a goldsmith’s atelier in Hamburg. This is among the most extensive training in jewellery craftsmanship, involving jewellery manufacture in an extremely precise way. It also afforded her an opportunity to be inspired by contemporary German design. Upon finishing her apprenticeship, she continued advanced studies in art and design at Sir John Cass in London where she completed a Masters in Arts, Silversmithing and Allied Crafts. Lilly has a design studio in St. John’s Square Clerkenwell. She has privately commissioned her work to clientele in the UK, Europe, the United States and Central America. She has been an exhibitor at the Goldsmith’s Fair in London for the past four years. Her work can be viewed by appointment and is exhibited at The Metal Gallery in Curzon Street; Autrum Gallery, New Cavendish Street; and Arroyo Fine Jewellery, Market Harborough.
