Alan's work has many influences, the result of travel, to Indonesia, Africa, Jordan and Egypt but particularly the the Red Sea. His interest in diving, also initiated a recurring marine theme in his work including textured and pierced coral like surfaces. His love of modelling has led to some very figurative work based around the marine theme in the form of his "Red Sea Chokers".
He is well known for his collection of ring styles. His "Stacking rings" are influenced by the decorative patterns, textures and colours of the Middle East. The latest development to this series is the "Diamond Bridge" feature, which is a narrow rectangular component set with small diamonds that bridges across the other bands in the set.
His "Coiled rings" were inspired by the box construction techniques of the Shakers of North America. In more recent commissions he has been experimenting with settings for large stones in his "Pevsner" series.
A more recent development evolved from an original pierced ring design with small diamonds. The "Loop rings" which have pronounced convolutions on a textured surface are able to accommodate stones up to 1 carat. and have been commissioned as engagement rings and as an alternative to eternity rings.
The "Munich muse" necklace designs represent a move to less figurative work that use strong geometric forms to compliment unusual cuts of semi-precious and gem stones.
Examples of all of these designs can be found on his website at
